THE FULL STORY
Vanessa Boddice is the founder and owner of QuayStones. Her passion for jewellery making ignited in childhood while assisting her mother in making and selling beaded jewellery at trade fairs. By her teenage years, she aspired to be a silversmith and earned a degree in jewellery and silversmithing from Loughborough College of Art. After gaining experience in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and promoting the UK jewellery and giftware industries internationally for a British trade association, she settled down to sharing her expertise through Adult Education after starting a family.
A relocation to north Northumberland in 2020 reignited her design passion, drawing inspiration from the local landscapes, history, and wildlife. Her regular beach walks with her husband and furry companions led to the creation one of QuayStones’s initial collections.
QuayStones made its trade debut at the British Craft Trade Fair in 2022 and was subsequently highlighted in the May/June issue of Gift Focus. In 2023, the business was nominated for two industry awards: The National Association of Jewellers' Jewellery Designer of the Year and the Emerging Designer category at the UK Jewellery Awards. QuaySones jewellery has been the main feature in exhibitions at both Sara Preisler's galleries and regularly appears in trade press articles.
Vanessa is delighted to create pieces in gold and often takes on commission work. If you're interested in discussing a bespoke design or special commission, please visit the “Contact us” page.
